The Center of Excellence in Space Sciences, India (CESSI) is organizing a Gravitational Wave Open Data Workshop 2025 (GWODW) Study Hub at the IISER Kolkata Mohanpur campus. This activity is coordinated with other similar study hubs and the Gravitational Wave Open Science Center (GWOSC).
Participants will receive a crash course in data analysis where they will learn about the tools and techniques to analyze data from the LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA gravitational-wave detectors. The workshop includes a series of lectures and practical hands-on sessions. The practical sessions will be conducted with mentors from the gravitational wave group at IISER Kolkata.
The course includes software tutorials, quizzes, and a data challenge. Participants who complete the course and the data challenge will receive a certificate.
IISER Kolkata will not be able to provide accommodation
Eligibility: The workshop is intended for postgraduate and PhD students interested in gravitational-wave astronomy and related fields. A few highly motivated undergraduate students may also be considered.
Participants are expected to know Python programming.
